How To Style A Tulle Skirt
Perhaps it’s just us, but we can’t get ballerina chic off the brain. We chalk it up to the hype surrounding the annual Victoria’s Secret Show (eee!!) and the regimented, core strengthening work outs #trainlikeanangel that are floating around the internet, making us all feel even more unfit and out of shape! In particular, the Ballet Beautiful workouts. I mean, seriously, those ladies are beasts – in the most feathered, frothy way possible.
So naturally, this leads to two things. One, the usual coveting of those ridonkulous, not at all wearable on a day to day basis wings that are earned, not bought thankyou-very –much (trust me, I checked). Two, ballerina vibes starting to seep over into our sartorial planning. The festive season is very much upon us with something on what feels like every weekend from now til January the 2nd and without some forward thinking, the stress of deciding what to wear will strike hard and fast.
Our go to party outfit this season? The tulle skirt. It’s a classic, it works dressed up or down, super full or more subtle and I haven’t seen a colour variation that I didn’t like yet.
Here’s our tips for how to wear it:
The crop is still going strong, and paired with a knee or midi length tulle skirt, it balances out the flounce for a more laid back approach. Accessorise with your pick of heels or flats – heels for a flirtier take, flats for a sporty chic vibe.
Take a breath and save the party for your lower half. If you can’t commit to full ballerina or a crop is not your friend, ease yourself into this style by tucking in a relaxed tee or cami. A piece that looks lived in, or has a topical logo or graphic design on the front adds to the fun. We suggest you don’t skimp on the heels, especially if it is a midi length.
Just embrace the feminine! Keep it to heather greys, pale pink and champagne. Pair your outfit with sweet accessories and ultra-lady like heels. Lovers of black, keeping it classic is right up your alley. Layer with sheers and laces to build your monochromatic look.
Finally, our biggest addendum is simple: buy LONG. Avoid the shorter styles unless you do want to look like a toddler playing dress ups. Not cute.
