Style Guide To Your Winter Racing Wardrobe
A day at the races is a fabulous excuse to frock up, pop on a hat and sip some champers. However, we all know that it takes a bit to get your outfit together and a suitable chic outfit for races during the cooler months is no exception! Here are our tips for your next racing event.
Oversized, sculptural hats and head pieces are paired best with slimmer pant or dress outfits. Race wear is heavily steeped in tradition but don’t be afraid to show your personality in your accessories.
A dress that is knee skimming is universally flattering on the most body types. It’s also a good idea to wear transitional pieces together – it might be cool when there’s cloud cover, but when you move inside into heating, discarding a couple of layers will be a must. Anything tailored will compliment almost all shapes and silhouettes.
Incorporate closed in shoes, hosiery, faux fur and other winter weight textures (such as worsted wool, felt, sateen). Gloves can also finish off an outfit perfectly. Feathers and quills that match in with your frock fit in with the golden rule: match your hat to your outfit, not your bag!
Remember ladies – skip the maxi floor length dresses – they might be warmer, but they’ll become a sodden mess on wet turf!
