The Best Spring Racing Fashion Of Melbourne Cup 2015

Well done everyone, well done! I think we have collectively turned a corner with our spring racing tastes and have taken a leaf from Emily Post. Aside from a few glaring exceptions which shall not be named or shamed or seen in this post, ladylike glamour ruled supreme.

Quite surprisingly, the traditional feathered fascinator was virtually non-existent with racegoers selecting daintier pieces such as headbands, crowns and turbans. A crazy amount of colour was on display with what seemed to be the full spectrum. Monochrome was very much left to Derby Day on the weekend and a light sprinkling of bling was reserved for accessories only.

Ashley Hart went all in on the print department, eschewing the field favourite of florals with a wild placement, stripe and check mash up design. Her pom pom accessories off set a rather plain hat piece.

Vibrant purple was a fresh take this year and Kate Peck manages the balance of décolletage on show with a decorous hem length.

Australian style queen, Bec Judd is one of the few who could pull off this traffic cone orange Alex Perry frock. The sheer cuffed bell sleeves were a nice 70’s touch.

The midi length proved popular in pencil silhouettes in block colours as did the classic full and pleated skirt.

Did we mention that there was glamour all around? Bhrianna Baxter had it in spades!

And congratulations to Emily Hunter who beat out over 200 other fashionistas for the coveted Myer Fashion on Field competition with her Mum made frock!
