The MET Gala Red Carpet Recap

The fashion elite’s equivalent of the Oscars did not disappoint! It rarely does year by year given the oft theatrical themes set and a no holds attitude of practically everyone invited stylists. This year’s Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology was highly anticipated with the hot topic subject of the widening divide between fast and slow fashion not showing any signs of slowing up anytime soon. Blurring the lines further is the advent of laser cutting and 3D technologies and the impact of such innovation on the environment and the future of fashion.

But we digress. Let’s talk about the spectacle that was the red carpet. Predictably, metallic, sculptural and artificial intelligence was heavily featured with matching slicked back hair and dark hued lips. Also predictably there were a few whom took the costume undertones to grand heights – Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Madonna namely. No, that’s not an upcoming single…though could you imagine?!

Again, we digress. To the fashions!

Sure fire outfit choice, but we loved the hue of Amber Heard’s frock. No apology necessary Amber.

Who wasn’t in Balmain?! Joan was our top pick out of the Balmain Army this year.

Florals, sequins and rectangle paillettes is not a combination that springs to mind under ‘classy’ but this number ticked all the right boxes.

Kenny’s rig though.

And special mention goes to Emma Watson who thankfully didn’t take the robotic route and instead opted for an outfit that blended organic cotton and silk and fabric made from 100% recycled plastic bottles.

We can’t wait for next year!
