Trend Alert: Winter Boot Style

As temperatures drop, practical closed in boots are the stock standard go to. Gone are the days of one style having the monopoly of the trend for the season – there is literally a bevy of choices at your fingertips. Moto, mid-calf, ankle, bootie, over the knee, slouchy – the list goes on! And how does one style them? It’s okay, I feel your mild panic. Let’s take a look at some style tips…

Monochromatic pairs well with boots – of any style whether you’re a minimalist, maximalist, or teeter somewhere in between. White isn’t only for summer – you can do it in winter too! Think weight and texture, not sheer and frothy.

You don’t have to go over the top with the hardware details. Classic textured flat boots are offset by metal zips. Long boots pair well with short finished pieces on top such as vests and jackets due to the fact that they in general work hard to lengthen your pins with long zippers and slimming cuts that hug the foot.

The Chelsea boot is so mod it hurts and can easily cross over into androgynous territory. If that’s not your cup of tea, an update in patent leather keeps it feminine and fresh.

Are you one of those people who say “I’ll never wear animal print!”? Don’t be afraid, it can be done…break up your all black and grey days with camel separates and ankle booties. Key word, ankle. Animal print can rapidly spiral into the sphere of OTT so it’s best to take cautious steps with the rest of your outfit to tone down the whole look. Avoid the matchy matchy urge and treat animal print as statement. A little goes a long way. Get the look with our Jordan Platforms here

The metallic toe caps are a nice accent update. Just enough bling to make a plain old boot look not so boring without being all out in your face. They also match right in with your other accessories if you choose – the hardware on your handbag for example or your jewellery.
